Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder II officially set for Feb. 22 in Las Vegas

The long-anticipated rematch between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and lineal champion Tyson Fury is officially set for Feb. 22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Wilder and Fury fought to a controversial split-decision draw in their first bout on Dec. 1, 2018, at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. The scorecards read 115-111 for Wilder, 114-110 for Fury, and 113-113.

Fury was more accurate and landed more punches than Wilder in that bout, according to CompuBox statistics, but the American champion knocked the British fighter down twice, including once in the 12th round.

The entertaining bout between the two heavyweights was considered a critical and commercial success after it generated 325,000 pay-per-view buys in the United States and another 420,000 buys in the United Kingdom.

Since their first fight, Wilder (42-0-1) has defended and retained his title twice, with knockouts of Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz.

Fury (29-0-1) earned a TKO win against German boxer Tom Schwarz this past June and secured a unanimous decision victory over Otto Wallin in September.
