Andre Pallante is aiming to regain his form after a challenging 2025 season, and one former teammate believes the St. Louis Cardinals pitcher is capable of bouncing back.
The Cardinals struggled significantly with their starting rotation last year. None of the team’s starters finished the season with an ERA under 4.00, which played a major role in the club finishing below .500.
Pallante endured one of the tougher seasons among the group. In 31 starts, he posted a 6–15 record with a 5.31 ERA. Despite those struggles, he is still expected to compete for a spot in the Cardinals’ rotation heading into 2026. With the team currently in a rebuilding phase, giving him the opportunity to work through adjustments makes sense for the organization.
His difficult 2025 campaign came after a much stronger showing the year before. In 2024, Pallante delivered a solid season with a 3.78 ERA and looked like a dependable mid-rotation option.
Veteran pitcher Kyle Gibson, who played alongside Pallante in 2024, recently expressed confidence that the 27-year-old can return to form.
Gibson noted that he understands the challenges of a rough season, having experienced similar struggles earlier in his own career. He added that Pallante has consistently shown an ability to make adjustments and learn from setbacks.
According to Gibson, Pallante’s willingness to listen to coaches and experiment with changes to his approach is a key reason he believes the young pitcher can turn things around. He also praised Pallante’s work ethic and determination to improve.
Having witnessed Pallante’s success firsthand in 2024, Gibson believes the right adjustments could help him rediscover that level of performance. While Cardinals fans may be frustrated after his disappointing 2025 season, the organization appears willing to give him the chance to regain his footing.
If Pallante does return to form, it could significantly strengthen St. Louis’ rotation specially following the addition of Dustin May. The Cardinals still see potential in Pallante’s arm, and a successful rebound season could help him secure a long-term role in the starting staff.
Whether Gibson’s prediction proves accurate remains to be seen, but those who have seen Pallante at his best believe there is still plenty of reason for optimism.
