The Auburn Tigers baseball completed a series sweep of the Missouri Tigers baseball, leaving Missouri still searching for its first Southeastern Conference victory of the season despite several strong performances from its starting pitchers.
Playing at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, Missouri kept the games competitive at times against No. 6 Auburn, but ultimately couldn’t finish the job. Both Missouri starters in the doubleheader, Josh McDevitt and Brady Kehlenbrink, delivered solid six-inning outings, yet the offense struggled to provide enough run support.
Game One
Missouri received a strong performance from McDevitt, who recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed just three hits. The game remained a tight pitching duel for most of the afternoon, with Auburn starter Jackson Sanders matching McDevitt inning for inning.
Missouri briefly held a 1–0 lead thanks to Jase Woita, but Auburn eventually pulled ahead after McDevitt exited the game. The Tigers responded in the eighth inning when RBI hits from Kam Durnin and Woita tied the score at 3–3, energizing the crowd.
However, Auburn regained control in the 10th inning after Cade Belyeu was hit by a pitch and Chris Rembert singled, setting up Chase Fralick for the go-ahead RBI. Missouri was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning, sealing the loss.
Missouri head coach Kerrick Jackson acknowledged the missed opportunities, noting that the team’s pitching staff delivered strong outings but the offense couldn’t produce timely runs.
Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader also began as a low-scoring battle. Kehlenbrink kept Auburn largely in check through six innings, allowing only one run while striking out five.
Missouri tied the game in the sixth when Cameron Benson doubled to right-center and Kaden Peer followed with an RBI single.
But the seventh inning proved decisive. Auburn loaded the bases and chased Kehlenbrink from the game before exploding against Missouri’s bullpen. The Tigers strung together six hits, including a three-run home run, turning a 1–1 contest into an 8–1 advantage.
Although Missouri attempted a late rally in the ninth when Pierre Seals reached base and freshman Blaize Ward drove in a run, the comeback fell short as Auburn closed out the game with a 9–2 victory to complete the sweep.
