JUST IN: Auburn Tigers LT Offers Cautiously Optimistic but Restrained Outlook on the Offensive Line

Auburn Tigers football left tackle Jo Simmons offered a cautiously optimistic view of the team’s offensive line, acknowledging progress but making it clear the unit still has work to do.

Speaking about spring practices under Alex Golesh, Simmons admitted the group isn’t fully cohesive yet. He emphasized that building chemistry is crucial for offensive linemen, noting that offseason activities and spring sessions have helped the players begin to connect and improve together, even though it will take more time to fully gel.

Drawing from his experience with the James Madison Dukes football, Simmons also pointed out the increased difficulty of facing Auburn’s defense, led by DJ Durkin. Unlike his previous competition, he said Auburn’s defense features pass rushers at every position, making practices more intense and demanding, though he welcomes the challenge.

Concerns about the Tigers’ offensive line remain understandable among fans, given years of inconsistency in protecting the quarterback and opening running lanes. While there is still time for improvement, especially under position coach Tyler Hudanick, the unit’s development will be key to the team’s success. Ultimately, Simmons’ remarks reflect a mix of realism and hope that the line will come together, and that early struggles may also be a sign of a strong defensive front.
