Texas Rangers pitching prospect Aidan Curry continues to make a compelling case for a bigger role within the organization’s farm system after delivering the most dominant outing of his professional season with Double-A Frisco. Although Curry has yet to crack the Rangers’ Top 30 prospect rankings, the 23-year-old right-hander is steadily gaining attention through his consistent development and improved performances on the mound.
In his latest start against Midland, Curry showcased the best version of himself, striking out a season-high 11 batters over 5.2 outstanding innings. The impressive performance marked the first time this season that he recorded double-digit strikeouts in a game and highlighted the significant progress he has made since arriving at the Double-A level.
The outing capped off an encouraging month of June, during which Curry overcame a difficult introduction to Frisco and gradually established himself as one of the club’s most reliable starting pitchers. His continued improvement has fueled speculation that a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock could eventually be on the horizon if he maintains his current trajectory.
A Difficult Beginning Turns Into a Remarkable Recovery
Curry’s transition to Double-A did not begin smoothly. Promoted to Frisco just before the end of May, he endured a challenging debut on May 26 against Arkansas. In that game, he lasted only three innings while surrendering six hits, seven earned runs, four walks, and a home run. Although he struck out four hitters, the outing left him with a staggering 21.00 ERA after his first appearance at the Double-A level.
Rather than allowing the rough start to derail his season, Curry responded with steady improvements over the following weeks.
His second outing still proved challenging, as he allowed six earned runs on June 2. However, each subsequent start reflected noticeable progress. On June 9, he reduced the damage to three earned runs (four total runs), followed by just two earned runs in his June 16 appearance. He continued that momentum by allowing three earned runs on June 23 before closing the month with another strong effort, giving up only two earned runs while recording his career-best 11-strikeout performance on June 30.
The month illustrated both his resilience and his ability to make adjustments against more advanced competition.
Strong June Performance Signals Continued Growth
By the end of June, Curry had firmly settled into Frisco’s rotation. Across five starts during the month, he compiled a 2-1 record with a 5.14 ERA, striking out 34 batters while issuing only eight walks over 28 innings. Opposing hitters managed just a .236 batting average against him, reflecting improved command and more effective pitch execution.
Perhaps even more encouraging than the strikeout totals has been his increasing workload. Curry has now completed at least five innings in each of his last four starts, including two outings of six innings or more. Earlier in the season while pitching for High-A Hub City, he reached the five-inning mark only twice, making his recent durability another encouraging sign of development.
The Rangers appear to be gradually expanding his pitch count and allowing him to work deeper into games, an important step in preparing him for higher levels of professional baseball.
Climbing the Rangers’ Development Ladder
Curry’s progress has been years in the making. The Ossining, New York, native joined the Rangers organization in 2020 after signing out of Fordham Preparatory School following the pandemic-shortened MLB Draft, which was reduced to just five rounds. With no minor league season that year, he officially began his professional career in 2021.
Since then, Curry has methodically worked his way through the Rangers’ farm system, spending five seasons developing before finally earning his first opportunity at Double-A Frisco in 2026. While his climb has not been rapid, the steady improvements he has shown this season suggest he may finally be turning an important corner in his career.
The Rangers are expected to keep Curry in Frisco for the time being, allowing him to continue refining his game before considering a promotion to Triple-A Round Rock later in the season.
For his professional career, Curry owns a 19-19 record with a 4.87 ERA, along with 482 strikeouts, 192 walks, and 382.2 innings pitched. His recent surge, highlighted by the 11-strikeout masterpiece, represents another significant milestone in what is becoming an increasingly promising journey through the Rangers’ minor league system.
