News Update: BigXthaPlug Still Set for Kansas State Fair After Texas Arrest

Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug remains scheduled to perform at the Kansas State Fair next month despite being arrested in Texas on several charges, including driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The 28-year-old artist, whose legal name is Xavier Darnell Landrum, was arrested Friday in Allen, Texas, according to jail records. His arrest briefly disrupted his performance schedule, forcing him to miss an appearance at a country music festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Despite the legal trouble, his upcoming Kansas State Fair performance has not been canceled.

Kansas State Fair officials confirmed Monday that BigXthaPlug remains on the entertainment lineup for the Hutchinson event. He is scheduled to perform alongside Stella Lefty at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Kansas Star Casino Grandstand on the fairgrounds.

Landrum was released from the Collin County jail on Saturday. Later that same day, he traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, where he was able to perform at the Iowa State Fair.

His decision to continue with the Iowa performance so soon after his release demonstrated that his touring schedule remains active despite the arrest.

The Kansas State Fair has not announced any changes to its plans involving the rapper, meaning fans who have already been anticipating his appearance can currently expect him to take the stage as scheduled.

The situation has, however, affected at least one other upcoming performance.

East Tennessee State University confirmed that BigXthaPlug will no longer appear at an on-campus concert scheduled for Oct. 7 in Johnson City, Tennessee. The university’s announcement did not provide a specific reason for removing the rapper from that event, but it came shortly after his arrest.

The contrast between the two events highlights the uncertainty surrounding BigXthaPlug’s touring schedule as he deals with the legal proceedings stemming from the Texas arrest.

For now, there has been no indication from Kansas State Fair officials that the rapper’s Sept. 12 appearance will be canceled or postponed.

BigXthaPlug has become one of the more prominent names in the current country-rap and hip-hop scene, making his scheduled appearance one of the notable musical events on this year’s Kansas State Fair lineup.

The rapper’s arrest adds an unexpected layer of attention to what was previously a straightforward concert booking. Nevertheless, unless organizers announce a change, BigXthaPlug is still expected to perform in Hutchinson on Sept. 12.

The charges he faces in Texas remain legal allegations, and the arrest itself does not establish guilt. His case will proceed through the legal system while his future performances continue to be determined on an event-by-event basis.
