Alex Golesh has made it clear that Auburn’s biggest transition into SEC play will not be carried by a single player alone, but his confidence in quarterback Byrum Brown stands out as the Tigers prepare for one of their most important games of the young season. On the eve of Auburn’s primetime showdown with Florida, Golesh once again highlighted Brown’s leadership, composure and development, making it clear that the quarterback remains at the center of the program’s plans as the Tigers move into a much tougher portion of the schedule.
The relationship between Golesh and Brown goes back several seasons. The two worked together at South Florida beginning in 2023, with Brown serving as Golesh’s starting quarterback throughout the coach’s three seasons in Tampa. During two of those seasons, Brown surpassed 3,000 passing yards and combined for 54 touchdown passes against only 18 interceptions in 2023 and 2025. That history helped establish a level of trust between the coach and quarterback that ultimately followed both of them to Auburn.
When Golesh left South Florida for Auburn, Brown made the decision to make the move with him.
