JUST IN: After Bo Bichette Snub, Phillies Linked……………….

The Philadelphia Phillies are being projected to pursue All-Star slugger Eugenio Suárez, who blasted 49 home runs, after failing to secure free-agent infielder Bo Bichette. According to Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer, Suárez represents a logical and impactful alternative following the Phillies’ recent setbacks in the market.

Rymer notes that losing out on Bichette along with watching Luis Robert Jr. and Freddy Peralta quickly land with the New York Mets has increased pressure on Philadelphia to respond decisively. In his view, signing Suárez may be the strongest move available. Rymer highlights Suárez’s elite power profile, suggesting that his skill set would pair perfectly with Citizens Bank Park. Statcast projections even indicate Suárez could have hit as many as 54 home runs in 2025 had he played the full season in Philadelphia.

During the 2025 season, Suárez posted a .228 batting average with 49 home runs, 118 RBIs, and an .824 OPS. He began the year with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being dealt to the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline. Widely regarded as one of the premier power bats available last summer, Suárez’s home-run ability would significantly bolster the Phillies’ offense.

Despite already carrying one of MLB’s largest payrolls further inflated by re-signing J.T. Realmuto to a three-year, $45 million deal the Phillies could still find a path to Suárez. One option would be trading Alec Bohm, who is due $10.2 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility. Although Bohm has been the subject of trade speculation for some time, his market value is limited due to a disappointing 2025 campaign and his expiring team control.

With repeated postseason disappointments, Philadelphia faces growing urgency to retool and remain competitive in the National League. Adding a proven power hitter like Suárez could be the change that helps the Phillies finally clear their October hurdle.
