Breaking News: Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer could soon see a Key Commitment Slip away to Auburn and Head Coach Alex Golesh.

Kalen DeBoer may soon lose another important recruit, as Alabama risks seeing one of its few 2027 pledges flip to Auburn under Alex Golesh.

Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class is still thin, with only four commitments even after adding tight end Oakley Keegan. That hasn’t softened the blow of recently losing four-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror, and more bad news could be on the way.

Cornerback Nash Johnson III, who committed to Alabama last October, has never seemed firmly locked in. Now, signs point to him possibly backing out of his pledge potentially to join rival Auburn. After a recent visit, Johnson admitted Auburn is making it tough for him to stay committed.

A flip wouldn’t be shocking, especially since Johnson hasn’t set up an official visit to Tuscaloosa but has visits planned with Auburn, Miami, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.

While losing a recruit to a rival is never ideal, Alabama is relatively well-stocked at cornerback thanks to strong recent recruiting classes that brought in players like Dijon Lee, Jorden Edmonds, Chuck McDonald, and Zyan Gibson.

The Crimson Tide are also targeting higher-ranked prospects in the 2027 cycle, including five-star standouts John Meredith III and Hayden Stepp. Landing either could quickly ease the impact of losing Johnson.

Still, for now, it looks like Alabama’s recruiting class could take another hit before it rebounds.
