The Auburn Tigers secured a major recruiting win Thursday when 4-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore from Hueytown, Alabama, committed to the program. This marks head coach Alex Golesh’s second pledge for the 2027 recruiting class.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 280 pounds, Moore is ranked No. 52 nationally in the Rivals300 and the No. 5 defensive lineman in the country. According to the 247Sports composite, he is the No. 72 overall player, a top-five defensive lineman, and the highest-rated recruit in Alabama.
Moore chose Auburn over powerhouse programs including Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Ole Miss, and USC turning down more than 30 scholarship offers. Auburn became his favorite following an offer last fall, and after a campus visit on Feb. 1, he publicly named the Tigers as his top school. He confirmed his commitment on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday, writing, “All glory to God, im staying home WAR DAMN EAGLE.”
During his sophomore season at Hueytown High School, Moore recorded 58 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. His performance, combined with his national top-100 ranking, made him one of the most coveted defensive prospects in the 2027 class.
Moore is Auburn’s first defensive commitment for the 2027 class, joining three-star tight end Trae Proctor from Plantation, Florida, who pledged in January. His commitment elevated Auburn’s class ranking from No. 54 nationally and No. 15 in the SEC to No. 36 nationally and No. 11 in the conference, according to 247Sports.
Defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, and director of player personnel Alex Fagan all played key roles in Moore’s recruitment. Moore is scheduled for an official visit to Auburn on June 5.
