The St. Louis Cardinals made another roster shake-up on Monday, designating 23-year-old infielder Bryan Ramos for assignment to make room for right-handed pitcher Zak Kent, who was claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers.

Ramos’s time in the Cardinals’ organization was brief he was traded from the Baltimore Orioles in early February and claimed off waivers by St. Louis on February 16, only to be DFA’d 10 days later. The 23-year-old has limited major league experience, appearing in 36 games over two seasons, hitting .202/.252/.333 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 2024, and playing just four games in 2025. Kent, 27, is returning to St. Louis for his second stint after a roller-coaster offseason; he was previously claimed by the Cardinals in December, sent to the Rangers after being DFA’d, and now rejoins the team following his release by Texas. Kent has made 12 major league appearances with a 4.58 ERA over 17 2/3 innings. While Spring Training has just begun, the Cardinals continue to adjust their roster, adding pitching depth in the process a reminder that roster tinkering is far from over for St. Louis this offseason.
