A Belmont assistant coach is likely to follow Casey Alexander to Kansas State, according to a report published March 18, 2026.

Kerron Johnson, who has spent the past four years on Belmont’s staff, is expected to join Alexander in Manhattan as an assistant coach for the Wildcats. The move isn’t unexpected, as Alexander recently indicated that much of his coaching staff was already set and would include some familiar faces from his time at Belmont.

Johnson, 35, previously played point guard for Belmont and was part of teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2011, 2012, and 2013. He is considered one of the program’s most accomplished players and has been inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. In his coaching role, he has helped develop guards such as Ben Sheppard, who was selected 26th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2023 NBA Draft. Johnson has also earned recognition for his recruiting and scouting abilities.

Athletics run in his family his brother, Kerryon Johnson, was a standout running back at Auburn, later played in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, and now works as a running backs coach at East Tennessee State.

Additionally, other Belmont staff members, including JJ Butler and Luke Smith, could also be considered for roles at Kansas State.
