Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday night when they take on Brighton at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup Round of 16. The Gunners have enjoyed a stellar few weeks, and they extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points after defeating Crystal Palace over the weekend.Brighton fell short to Manchester United on the weekend, but have enjoyed a steady start and often prove tricky opposition even for the best in the league. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both clubs heading into this one.
Martin Odegaard – Out
Arteta said in his latest address on Odegaard: “There’s no definite date for his return, but he’s evolving well. It’s very unlucky what’s happening with him and his injuries this season, but I think he will be back in a few weeks. It could be [after the next Int’ break], but we’ll have to see how he progresses. It’s too early to give an answer.”
William Saliba – Doubt
Saliba is a doubt after coming off last time out. Arteta said afterwards: “The first one was Willy who had to be taken out after the first half, Declan was struggling from the first half with a knock that he took and Riccy, let’s see how that will go.” The quick turnaround will make things difficult for all three to play here, but they will be doubts for now.
Declan Rice – Doubt
The same as above.
Riccardo Calafiori – Doubt
Gabriel Martinelli – Doubt
Martinelli has been dealing with a muscle issue and will be a doubt here.
Noni Madueke – Out
Arteta has said: “He’s getting closer as well. He’s going to start very soon to do some running and stuff, and then again, let’s see how that reacts.” A November return is likely.
Kai Havertz – Out
Arteta has said: “It’s very difficult, there’s still a lot to do in his rehab
