BREAKING NEWS: Mets Owner’s Wife Announces Sudden Exit From Social Media

Alex Cohen, the wife of New York Mets owner Steve Cohen, has announced that she is stepping away from social media in order to focus more on her personal life. Known affectionately by Mets fans as “Tia Alex,” she shared the news in a heartfelt open letter posted on Instagram before deactivating her account on Tuesday, January 6.

In her farewell message, Alex explained that her decision was driven by a desire to spend less time online and more time being fully present in her day-to-day life. She reflected fondly on the past few years, noting how much she enjoyed connecting with fans and sharing behind-the-scenes moments they might not normally see. She also revealed that 2026 will be a milestone year for her family, as her son is getting married and she is preparing to become a grandmother for the first time.

Alex expressed gratitude for the friendships she formed through Instagram and said she cherished the opportunity to get a glimpse into the lives of fans. While she is leaving social media, she emphasized that the Mets and their supporters remain deeply important to her. She encouraged fans to say hello if they see her in person and mentioned that those who wish to reach out can still do so through traditional mail sent to Citi Field.

This isn’t Alex’s first break from social media. Following the end of the 2025 regular season, she posted a similar message announcing a temporary hiatus to “recharge and refocus” after the Mets’ late-season collapse that cost them a playoff spot. At the time, she acknowledged the disappointment shared by fans but reaffirmed her belief in the team and expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of the Mets community.

The Mets finished the 2025 season with an 83–79 record, narrowly missing the postseason after losing 13 of their final 20 games. The disappointing finish was particularly striking given the team’s massive financial investment, highlighted by the blockbuster signing of Juan Soto to a $765 million deal away from the New York Yankees.

As the Mets head into the 2026 season, expectations remain high. However, their path back to the playoffs will come without longtime franchise cornerstone Pete Alonso, who signed with the Baltimore Orioles in free agency after spending the last several years as the face of the team.
