JUST IN: The Tigers Unveil a hidden Bench Weapon in their NIT Clash Against Seattle.

Auburn could have an unexpected boost coming off the bench as it prepares for its NIT matchup with Seattle. Freshman guard Kaden Magwood made his first appearance since Jan. 6 during the tournament opener and delivered an impressive 14-point performance in the win.

Magwood hadn’t played since Auburn’s tough loss to Texas A&M earlier in the season, making his return on Tuesday surprising. Even more notable was his efficiency he scored 14 points in just 17 minutes while shooting 50% from the field, helping Auburn secure a 78–67 victory over South Alabama.

That raised an obvious question for first-year head coach Steven Pearl: why had Magwood been absent from the rotation for so long? Pearl didn’t offer a direct explanation but praised the freshman’s response and mindset, noting that his strong play benefits the team.

Reports have suggested Magwood’s absence may have been tied to discipline concerns and defensive struggles, both of which have affected Auburn’s lineup decisions this season. Still, Pearl commended him after the game for staying prepared and making the most of his opportunity.

As Auburn gets set to face Seattle U, Magwood could see more playing time. If his recent performance is any indication, he may play an important role in helping the Tigers move forward in the tournament.
