J.T. Realmuto says he’s motivated to complete unfinished business with the Philadelphia Phillies after their disappointing playoff departure in 2025.
Philadelphia entered last postseason as the National League’s No. 2 seed but saw its run cut short in the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Speaking with NBC Sports Philadelphia, Realmuto made it clear he remains fully committed to the Phillies and believes the group is determined to push further this time around.

“There’s a ton of talent in this clubhouse,” Realmuto said. “We love competing together, and this is where I want to be. We’ve come up short the past few years, so there’s definitely unfinished business.”
Set to turn 35 in March, Realmuto is preparing for his 13th MLB season and continues to be a cornerstone of the roster since arriving in 2019. The three-time All-Star posted a .257 batting average and .315 on-base percentage last season, adding 129 hits, 12 home runs, and 52 RBIs.
He’ll once again guide a formidable pitching staff that features Cristopher Sánchez, Jesús Luzardo, Aaron Nola, and Zack Wheeler. Realmuto has also praised top prospect Andrew Painter, who is vying for a spot on the major league roster.
With a deep lineup and a strong rotation supported by a reliable bullpen, expectations are high for Philadelphia to contend again in the NL East. The Phillies will open the 2026 season on Opening Day against the Texas Rangers, aiming to begin their quest for redemption on a strong note.
