Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Lennart Karl, the rising 17-year-old treasure from Bayern Munich’s academy, in what would be one of their boldest youth recruitment moves yet. The midfielder turned winger became the youngest Bayern player ever to score in the Champions League after netting against Club Brugge, a feat that has sparked interest from several top clubs.
Karl, who already has a professional contract running until 2028 and includes an automatic extension clause upon turning 18, is seen as one of Germany’s most exciting young talents. Bayern are reportedly reluctant to let him go, valuing his long-term potential highly and expecting suitors to pay a premium.
For Arsenal, landing Karl would reinforce their youth policy and inject even more creativity and dynamism into their attacking options. However, with competition from Chelsea and Manchester City, and Bayern’s protective stance over their academy gem, the Gunners will need both an ambitious fee and a compelling vision to persuade Karl and his camp.
