BREAKING NEWS! Phillies add 2024 Gold Glove winner on minor-league deal

Philadelphia has agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran utilityman Dylan Moore, giving him a non-roster invite to big-league spring training.

Per reports, the agreement offers Moore a legitimate shot to crack the 40-man roster before the 2026 season. The structure is notable: if he makes the majors, he’ll earn a $1.85 million salary that could climb to $3.25 million through incentives tied to plate appearances and time on the active roster a sizable upside for a minor-league pact and a sign the Phillies see more than just emergency depth.

Moore, 33, brings seven years of MLB experience across 689 games. He’s a career .206 hitter with 63 home runs, a .693 OPS and 1,922 plate appearances. Most of his time came with Seattle before he was DFA’d last August. He later rejoined the Rangers — the team that drafted him in 2015 to finish the year.

In 2025, Moore logged 243 plate appearances and posted a .201/.267/.374 line with 11 homers and 25 RBIs, with over half his long balls coming in April. He struggled versus lefties last season, but over his career he’s been more reliable in those matchups (.216 average, .727 OPS vs. LHP).

Defense is his calling card. Moore has started at seven positions, seeing the most action at second base, shortstop and both corner outfield spots, and has appeared everywhere except catcher. That versatility helped him win the AL Gold Glove for utility players in 2024, when he played a career-high 135 games and delivered slightly above-average offense (103 OPS+).

He also brings speed and patience at the plate. Moore has 118 career steals, multiple 20-steal seasons and above-average sprint speed. His plate discipline especially against left-handers has graded among the league’s best in chase rate and walk rate.

In Philly, he joins a utility mix that includes Edmundo Sosa and Otto Kemp. His right-handed bat and ability to move between the infield and outfield could make him useful in platoon setups, particularly in left field. Moore heads to camp competing for a flexible bench role, giving the Phillies experienced, award-winning defensive depth.
