Shocking News: Phillies make Notable Roster Decision involving Team Italy WBC Standout Prospect

The Philadelphia Phillies are close to finalizing their Opening Day roster, with only a couple of spots likely the final bench role and bullpen slot still undecided.

As the regular season approaches, the team is trimming down its spring training roster, recently making moves involving two promising young players.

Shortly after the World Baseball Classic concluded, the Phillies reassigned infielder/outfielder Felix Reyes and outfielder Dante Nori to minor league camp.

Reyes, a 24-year-old with positional versatility, turned heads during spring training. In just 30 at-bats, he posted a 1.022 OPS, hit three home runs, and batted .333—making a strong case for future consideration.

Nori, however, has generated even more buzz. The 21-year-old, selected in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, showed steady progress in 2025 across Single-A, High-A, and Double-A, finishing with a .732 OPS.

His breakout moment came on the international stage with Team Italy at the WBC. Over six games and 24 plate appearances, Nori delivered an impressive performance, collecting eight hits for a .400 average, along with a double, two home runs, six RBIs, two stolen bases, and three runs scored. He capped off the tournament with a standout 1.185 OPS.

Nori’s ability to perform against elite competition and on such a big stage offers an encouraging glimpse of his potential. His contributions also helped Italy make a deep run in the tournament.

If he can carry that momentum into the 2026 season, the Phillies may have a rising outfield talent who could soon make a significant impact at the Major League level.
