Shocking Message: Bo Bichette is Quickly becoming a Concern for the New York Mets.

The New York Mets may already be facing an early-season dilemma involving Bo Bichette.

Transitioning Bichette to third base is quickly looking like a risky decision that hasn’t paid off so far. Known throughout his career as a natural shortstop, Bichette entered free agency from the Toronto Blue Jays with expectations that he might shift positions. Many around the league believed second base would be his most logical landing spot. However, with Marcus Semien already occupying second for the Mets, the team opted to move Bichette to third a position he had never played at the major league level.

So far, the results have been shaky. In his first game of the season, Bichette’s opening throw pulled Jorge Polanco off the bag, though the out was still recorded thanks to a slow runner. A similar misfire followed the next day, but this time it cost the Mets an out. These early defensive lapses have only highlighted concerns about his ability to handle the position.

It’s worth noting that Bichette had zero experience at third base prior to this move. While he was serviceable though not elite at shortstop, the Blue Jays did experiment with shifting him to second base late last season after he returned from injury. Still, there was little evidence to suggest he could smoothly transition to third, and early signs indicate that his arm accuracy and mechanics are an issue.

Now, the Mets are left searching for answers. Whether that means reshuffling the infield or accelerating Bichette’s development at third base, adjustments will need to come quickly. For a team with postseason ambitions, defensive inconsistencies at such a key position could become a serious obstacle if not addressed soon.
