The Philadelphia Phillies are preparing to host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, bringing baseball’s biggest stars to Citizens Bank Park for the annual Midsummer Classic. With several Phillies players putting together exceptional seasons, the club is expected to have strong representation on the National League roster. However, one surprising prediction has sparked debate and it involves one of the franchise’s biggest stars.
Outfielder Brandon Marsh appears to be on track for his first All-Star selection after a breakout campaign, while slugger Kyle Schwarber is widely expected to earn another appearance. Rymer projects Freddie Freeman as the National League’s starting first baseman, with Matt Olson earning the backup spot. That leaves room for Harper to be selected as an additional reserve if voters and league officials choose.
Instead, Rymer’s projected reserve roster includes names such as William Contreras, Brice Turang, Hunter Goodman, Luis Arraez, JJ Wetherholt, Otto Lopez, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Corbin Carroll, James Wood, and Kyle Schwarber, leaving Harper on the outside looking in.
Although every MLB team must have at least one representative on the All-Star roster, Harper’s exclusion would still be difficult for many Phillies supporters to understand, especially considering his impressive body of work this season.

The veteran superstar has been one of the National League’s most productive hitters in 2026. Through the first half of the season, Harper has accumulated:
