Atlanta Braves shortstop prospect Alex Lodise is quickly becoming one of the hottest hitters in the organization, adding impressive contact production to the power that has already made him one of the system’s most intriguing young players.
The Braves’ No. 5 prospect delivered another outstanding performance Sunday for High-A Rome, collecting four hits for the second consecutive game despite the team ultimately falling to Asheville, 16-14, in a wild offensive battle. The performance capped an incredible three-game stretch in which Lodise went 10-for-17, drove in seven runs and accumulated 18 total bases.
Lodise wasted little time making an impact Sunday. The 22-year-old shortstop opened his afternoon by launching his 25th home run of the season in the first inning. It was his fourth homer in just 17 games since joining Rome. He then added three more singles to complete another four-hit performance.
The back-to-back four-hit games underline just how quickly Lodise is developing into a well-rounded offensive threat. While his power has long been one of his defining tools, his recent surge suggests that he is becoming equally dangerous as a pure hitter.
Lodise has been particularly impressive during August, posting a .358 batting average, .444 on-base percentage and .660 slugging percentage across 13 games. Since being promoted to High-A in late July, he has produced a remarkable 1.005 OPS, showing little difficulty adjusting to the higher level of competition.
His promotion came after an equally productive stint with Single-A Augusta. In 94 games, Lodise hit 21 home runs, including three separate multi-homer performances, while recording a .826 OPS. His combination of power, consistency and offensive production has quickly elevated his status among Atlanta’s top prospects.
The recent surge is especially encouraging considering Lodise is still relatively early in his professional career. After being selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft, he received a brief introduction to pro baseball with Rome last season. In 25 games, he hit .252/.294/.398 with one home run and nine RBIs.
Before entering the Braves organization, Lodise established himself as a productive college hitter at Florida State. Over three seasons, he posted an impressive 1.003 OPS while hitting 26 home runs across 122 games.
Now, the Braves are seeing another level of production from him.
Lodise’s recent performance suggests that his power is no longer the only reason to be excited about his future. His ability to consistently make hard contact, reach base and produce extra-base hits is giving Atlanta another promising offensive prospect to monitor as he continues climbing through the organization.
With his bat heating up at High-A, Lodise is rapidly strengthening his case as one of the Braves’ most exciting prospects and could become an increasingly important name in Atlanta’s long-term plans.
