The Philadelphia Eagles have reached one of the most important moments of the preseason, and the team’s final roster decisions could create plenty of surprises for fans.
Philadelphia wrapped up its preseason with a disappointing 30-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, leaving the Eagles winless through their three exhibition games. While preseason records rarely tell the full story of what a team will accomplish once the regular season begins, the final game provided one last opportunity for players fighting for roster spots to make an impression on the coaching staff.
Now, the attention shifts from preseason performances to the difficult task facing general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni: deciding which players deserve to remain on the 53-man roster.
For some Eagles players, the final preseason game may have strengthened their cases. For others, it could have raised even more questions.
Backup quarterback battle gets interesting
One of the biggest storylines coming out of the preseason finale is Philadelphia’s quarterback situation behind its starter.
Tanner McKee received the starting opportunity against Cincinnati but struggled to generate much offense. He completed 12 of 22 passes for only 55 yards and threw an interception before giving way to veteran Andy Dalton.

Safety Andre’ Sam was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury, while cornerback Isaiah Bolden also left the contest after an apparent injury.
The timing could not be worse for players competing for roster positions.
