Former Auburn standout Josh Donaldson received one of the program’s highest honors Friday night, officially joining Auburn baseball’s Wall of Fame in front of a packed crowd at Plainsman Park.

The emotional ceremony celebrated Donaldson’s remarkable journey from Tigers star to MLB MVP, as his iconic No. 4 jersey was unveiled beyond the outfield wall cementing his legacy among Auburn’s all-time greats.
“It’s a full-circle moment,” Donaldson said as family, former teammates, and fans looked on. “There was a lot of hard work that went into it. It’s surreal, and we’re going to enjoy this.”
Donaldson starred for Auburn from 2005-07 before becoming a first-round MLB Draft pick and building a decorated professional career that featured multiple All-Star appearances and an American League MVP award.
Auburn head coach Butch Thompson praised Donaldson not only for his accomplishments on the field, but also for the impact he continues to make on the Tigers program.
“I’m proud of the young man that I knew and the grown man that I know now,” Thompson said. “He’s poured into our players and our program, and that’s evident by him coming back again this weekend.”
For Donaldson, the honor carried deep meaning beyond baseball. He shared that seeing the family name permanently displayed at Plainsman Park was a powerful moment for generations to come.
Now immortalized on Auburn’s Wall of Fame, Donaldson’s No. 4 jersey will stand as a lasting symbol of excellence, leadership, and one of the greatest careers in Tigers baseball history.
