In Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, the Milwaukee Brewers came up short against the Los Angeles Dodgers, unable to take advantage of key opportunities. The Dodgers emerged with a narrow 2–1 win in a pitching duel that was decided by minimal offense and one defining moment.
Dodgers ace Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance, tossing eight shutout innings, giving up only one hit, and striking out ten batters while issuing zero walks. His dominance kept Milwaukee’s hitters frustrated all night long.
The Dodgers broke through in the sixth when Freddie Freeman smashed a solo home run to break the scoreless tie. They padded their lead in the top of the ninth via a bases-loaded walk drawn by Mookie Betts.
Milwaukee mounted a late-game threat in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases and cutting the lead to 2–1. But the rally ended when Blake Treinen struck out Brice Turang to seal the Dodgers’ win.
Milwaukee’s season‑best 97‑win squad had previously swept Los Angeles in the regular season, making this loss especially stinging. Despite strong pitching and solid defense including a wild, momentum‑swirling double play in the fourth their offense never quite got loose.
Game 2 is slated for Tuesday night, where Milwaukee will try to respond after failing to convert in Game 1
