The St. Louis Cardinals suffered another potential injury scare Thursday when rookie third baseman Blaze Jordan was forced to leave the game against the Baltimore Orioles after appearing to hurt his left foot or ankle.
Jordan’s exit added to a growing list of health concerns for St. Louis, which has recently seen several players land on the injured list. Shortstop Masyn Winn and pitcher Hunter Dobbins are among the Cardinals players dealing with injuries, making Jordan’s situation another development the organization will be watching closely.
The injury occurred during the eighth inning while Jordan was playing defense. The young infielder appeared to make an awkward move while attempting to tag a runner, and he immediately showed signs of discomfort. He was unable to put much weight on his left foot afterward.
