The St. Louis Cardinals are getting an early glimpse of the power that made Trevor Condon one of their most intriguing young prospects. The organization’s 2026 first-round selection celebrated a major milestone Tuesday night, crushing the first home run of his professional career for the Single-A Palm Beach Cardinals.
Condon’s breakthrough came against Daytona, when the teenage outfielder recognized the spin coming from the pitcher’s hand and squared up the pitch. The ball quickly carried deep out of Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, giving the young slugger his first professional homer and providing another encouraging sign for the Cardinals’ developing farm system.
The home run was especially significant because Condon has only recently begun his professional career. St. Louis selected him with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, and the organization signed him shortly afterward before beginning his transition into professional baseball. MLB currently lists him as the Cardinals’ No. 6 prospect.
Condon wasted little time making an impression after entering the system. He made his professional debut in August with Palm Beach and collected two hits in that first game, immediately giving Cardinals fans a reason to pay attention to the young outfielder. He also recorded a stolen base during his early introduction to professional baseball.
Now, the first professional home run adds another important milestone to his rapidly developing résumé. The long ball offers an early demonstration of the raw power that attracted St. Louis to him during the draft, although the organization will understandably remain patient as he adjusts to the much different demands of professional pitching.
At just 18 years old, Condon is beginning his development at the lowest levels of the Cardinals’ system, giving the organization plenty of time to refine his offensive approach, plate discipline and overall game. His early results are encouraging, but the Cardinals will be focused on his progression over the long term rather than judging him on a handful of games.
The emergence of Condon also adds another exciting name to a Cardinals farm system that has been gaining attention. St. Louis has continued to invest heavily in young talent, and Condon’s combination of youth, athleticism and power gives the organization another potential future impact bat to monitor.
For Condon, however, the moment was much more personal than simply another prospect milestone. After watching the ball leave the yard for the first time as a professional, he was able to celebrate a moment he had dreamed about since beginning his baseball journey.
The Cardinals will now hope the home run is the first of many. Condon still has a considerable amount of development ahead of him, but his first professional homer represents an important step in a career that St. Louis hopes eventually leads him all the way to Busch Stadium.
With his first professional hit, first professional homer and early exposure to the Cardinals’ minor-league system already behind him, Condon has begun building the foundation of what the organization hopes can become a significant major-league career.
