In 2026, the Cardinals are approaching the season with a different mindset, no longer expecting to be immediate playoff contenders. After falling behind other teams in several areas, the franchise has begun a rebuilding phase that will take time to fully develop.

Bloom, however, has made it clear that he doesn’t intend to follow the blueprint of other organizations. Instead, he wants to create a unique path forward. He emphasized that true success comes from shaping your own legacy rather than imitating others, and he hopes to inspire players to view the team’s tradition as motivation rather than pressure.

The Cardinals have struggled recently, finishing below .500 in two of the past three seasons. Once known for setting the standard in player development and sustained success particularly during their stretch of six playoff appearances in seven years from 2009 to 2015 the team has since lost some of that edge.

Now serving as president of baseball operations, Bloom is focused on restoring that identity. With improved facilities and a renewed vision, he aims to guide the Cardinals back to prominence by adapting to the evolving nature of the game.

Rather than copying others, Bloom’s goal is to position St. Louis as a leader once again. While the rebuild will take time, his approach signals a new direction and a hopeful future for the organization.
