Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to establish himself as one of Major League Baseball’s brightest young stars, and his outstanding first half of the 2026 season has earned him recognition among the game’s elite.
After emerging as a key contributor during the Cubs’ late-season surge a year ago, Crow-Armstrong has elevated his game to another level this season, becoming one of the driving forces behind Chicago’s success despite the club battling significant injuries throughout its pitching staff.

After hitting just one home run through his first 19 games, the center fielder erupted over the next 49 contests, launching 16 home runs, stealing 12 bases, and producing an eye-popping 1.045 OPS. Projected over a full 162-game season, that pace would translate to approximately 53 home runs and 40 stolen bases, numbers rarely seen from any player in today’s game.
The analyst also noted that Crow-Armstrong’s recent surge closely mirrors the incredible stretch he enjoyed during the first half of last season, when he was on pace for 44 home runs and 48 stolen bases before cooling off after the All-Star break.
That second-half slowdown remains one of the few concerns surrounding the young star.
Cubs fans will undoubtedly hope Crow-Armstrong can maintain his current level of production throughout the remainder of the season rather than experiencing another post-All-Star decline. If he continues playing at his current pace, he could not only help Chicago remain in contention for the NL Central title but also emerge as a serious candidate for several end-of-season awards.
Beyond his offensive numbers, Crow-Armstrong has continued to distinguish himself as one of baseball’s premier defensive outfielders, combining exceptional range, athleticism and instinct in center field.
