Deebo Samuel trade leaves Dolphins with obvious Tyreek Hill decision

 

The NFL world was shaken on Saturday with reports that the San Francisco 49ers had traded All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders. In light of this move, the Miami Dolphins face an even clearer decision regarding Tyreek Hill.

Samuel’s reported trade to Washington came in exchange for a fifth-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. While the Dolphins may have considered moving Hill, they would need a much higher return to make such a deal worthwhile.

A fifth-round pick alone wouldn’t meet Miami’s expectations, and while covering a portion of Hill’s contract could facilitate a trade, the compensation would likely still fall short of what the team desires.

Samuel’s trade underscores that the Dolphins’ best course of action is to retain Hill for the 2025 season and reassess their options heading into 2026.
