After a difficult end to the 2026 season, Kansas State is turning to the transfer portal to rebuild, landing two impactful players in Brandon Rechsteiner and Dezdrick Lindsay. Their arrivals signal a shift in direction for the Wildcats as they look to recover from heavy roster turnover.
The departure of key contributors, headlined by high-scoring guard P.J. Haggerty, created a major void. Haggerty, now at Texas A&M, was a constant offensive threat, and his exit—along with several others—left Kansas State with significant holes to address.
Rechsteiner, who spent last season at Colorado State after beginning his career at Virginia Tech, offers proven production and experience. He averaged 12 points per game and showed the ability to score efficiently, including multiple 20-point performances. His outside shooting also stands out, making him a reliable perimeter option.
Lindsay, a forward from Oregon, brings versatility despite more modest numbers. Averaging just over five points per game, he still played a consistent role, contributing defensively and providing solid minutes throughout the season. His ability to impact different facets of the game could prove valuable.
As Kansas State looks ahead, position battles are expected, particularly at forward, where Lindsay could challenge returning player Andrej Kostic. In the backcourt, Rechsteiner’s experience may position him as a key contributor, though much remains uncertain as the roster continues to take shape.
