Kentucky basketball is once again active in the transfer and international market as head coach Mark Pope continues reshaping the roster ahead of the 2026–27 season, following a disappointing finish to the previous campaign.
The Wildcats entered the 2025–26 season with massive expectations and one of the most expensive rosters in college basketball, reportedly valued at around $22 million. Despite that investment, Kentucky managed just a 22–14 record and only one NCAA Tournament win as a No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region, a result widely viewed as underwhelming by program standards in the NIL era.
Now, with pressure mounting to return the program to national title contention, Kentucky has already been aggressive in the transfer portal. However, reports suggest the staff is still actively searching for additional talent late in the recruiting cycle.
According to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck, the Wildcats are targeting 19-year-old overseas professional guard Savo Drezgić, a former Georgia Bulldog who is attempting to make a return to college basketball after a stint in the international ranks.
Polacheck reported that Kentucky has emerged as one of the schools involved in his recruitment, with Drezgić confirming that communication between his representatives and the program is already underway.
“My agent is in contact with Kentucky,” Drezgić told KSR.
Drezgić, a 6-foot-4 guard from Belgrade, Serbia, spent the 2025–26 season playing for Mega Superbet in the ABA League, where he averaged 15.4 points and four assists per game. His strong production overseas has significantly raised his profile after a brief college stint in the United States.
Before turning professional, Drezgić played one season at Georgia in 2024–25, appearing in limited action across eight games. During that time, he averaged 2.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 33.3% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. Despite showing flashes of potential, he ultimately chose to leave college after his freshman year to pursue a professional opportunity in Europe.
Interestingly, his agent, Misko Ražnatović, recently indicated that Drezgić is now weighing a return to the college game, with a final decision expected soon regarding where he will continue his basketball career.
Given his improved experience and production at the professional level, Drezgić could represent a significant boost for Kentucky if he chooses to join the Wildcats, potentially offering a more polished and impactful presence than he showed during his initial NCAA stint.
