Kentucky Football’s recruiting efforts continue to gain momentum under first-year head coach Will Stein, and the Wildcats may soon secure another significant commitment for their rapidly growing 2027 recruiting class.
According to several respected recruiting analysts, Kentucky has emerged as the frontrunner to land four-star offensive tackle Dominic Black, one of Ohio’s most coveted high school prospects. The New Madison native is expected to announce his college decision soon, with the Wildcats competing against a strong list of finalists that includes Michigan State, Tennessee, Indiana, and Virginia Tech.
Confidence in Kentucky’s chances has increased considerably in recent days. National recruiting experts Allen Trieu, Greg Smith, and Steve Wiltfong have each submitted predictions favoring the Wildcats, signaling a growing belief that Black is leaning toward Lexington as the next step in his football career.
Black has steadily risen as one of the premier offensive line prospects in the Midwest. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is currently rated as the No. 191 overall player in the nation, the No. 19 offensive tackle in the 2027 class, and the seventh-ranked prospect in the state of Ohio. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing approximately 290 pounds, he possesses the size, strength, and athleticism that have attracted attention from major Power Conference programs across the country.
Kentucky’s pursuit of Black has intensified over the past several months. The relationship began to take shape after he attended the Wildcats’ Junior Day event in January. Shortly afterward, offensive line assistant Paul Rodriguez extended a scholarship offer on January 30, officially placing Kentucky in the mix for one of the region’s top recruits.
Since then, offensive line coach Cutter Leftwich has played a key role in building a strong connection with Black and his family. The talented lineman returned to Lexington for another unofficial visit in March, where he spent time with Coach Stein and the Wildcats’ staff, gaining further insight into the program’s vision for the future.
Kentucky has continued to make Black a priority. Last month, Leftwich traveled to Ohio to visit him at his high school, reinforcing the program’s commitment and helping strengthen the relationship ahead of a critical summer recruiting period.
The Wildcats are also set to host Black for an official visit from June 5–7, a trip that could further solidify Kentucky’s position before his final decision. While defending national champion Indiana has been viewed as one of the strongest challengers in the recruitment, the momentum appears to be swinging toward Kentucky.
If the predictions hold true, Black would represent another major recruiting victory for Stein and his coaching staff as they continue to reshape the Wildcats’ future and strengthen the foundation of Kentucky’s offensive line for years to come.
