Major League Baseball has officially announced the honorary coaches and support staffs for the 2026 All-Star Game, set to take place on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Leading the National League squad will be Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who earned the role after guiding the defending World Series champions through another successful season. Roberts selected St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol and Philadelphia Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly to serve as honorary coaches alongside the Dodgers’ coaching staff during the Midsummer Classic.
On the American League side, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider will oversee the AL team after leading the reigning league champions. Schneider invited Minnesota Twins manager Derek Shelton to join him in the dugout as an honorary coach for the showcase event.
The selection marks another milestone in Roberts’ decorated managerial career. He will manage the National League All-Star team for the fifth time overall and for a second consecutive season. Since taking over the Dodgers in 2016, Roberts has built one of baseball’s most successful dynasties, leading Los Angeles to multiple World Series championships, several National League pennants, and numerous division titles.
For Marmol, the invitation represents his first appearance as part of an All-Star Game coaching staff. Since becoming manager of the Cardinals in 2022, he has helped keep St. Louis competitive while establishing himself as one of the league’s rising managerial figures.
Mattingly’s selection carries special significance as the representative of the host Phillies organization. The former American League MVP and six-time All-Star has enjoyed a lengthy managerial career with the Dodgers, Miami Marlins, and Toronto Blue Jays before taking over as Philadelphia’s interim manager earlier this season. This will be his third appearance on an All-Star coaching staff.
Meanwhile, Schneider will make his first All-Star Game appearance as a manager or coach. The Blue Jays skipper has enjoyed considerable success since taking over in Toronto, guiding the club to multiple postseason appearances and an American League pennant. He also becomes the first Toronto manager in more than three decades to lead the American League All-Star squad.
Shelton will make his second All-Star coaching appearance after previously serving on an All-Star staff in 2023. Now managing the Twins after several seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he joins Schneider’s staff as one of the American League’s honorary coaches.
MLB also announced the athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and clubhouse managers who will support both All-Star teams throughout the festivities. Representatives from the Phillies, Dodgers, Athletics, Angels, and Blue Jays organizations will help oversee player preparation and operations during the event.
The 2026 MLB All-Star Week will feature a full slate of activities leading up to the game, including the Home Run Derby, Futures Game, MLB Draft, HBCU Swingman Classic, and the newly expanded MLB All-Star fan events. The week-long celebration will culminate with the 96th Midsummer Classic, bringing together many of the sport’s biggest stars on one of baseball’s grandest stages.
With Philadelphia serving as host, the All-Star festivities promise to showcase both the game’s elite talent and some of the most respected figures in baseball leadership as the sport celebrates another summer tradition.
