The St. Louis Cardinals have made their latest lineup decision involving Jordan Walker ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies, providing another update on the young outfielder after his recent knee issue. Walker’s availability has been closely watched since he was scratched from the Cardinals’ lineup earlier this month because of inflammation in his right knee. He subsequently missed additional time before returning to the lineup against the Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinals entered Wednesday’s finale looking to complete a strong series against Philadelphia after winning Tuesday’s pitching duel. Andre Pallante delivered six scoreless innings, while the St. Louis bullpen protected the lead and Everson Pereira added an insurance home run in the eighth.
Walker remains an important part of St. Louis’ plans
Walker has become one of the biggest developments in the Cardinals’ 2026 season. After struggling during his first several major-league seasons, the former top prospect has taken a significant step forward this year and emerged as an important piece of St. Louis’ lineup.
That progress makes the Cardinals’ handling of his knee particularly important. Rather than immediately placing him on the injured list, the organization has appeared to manage the situation cautiously, giving him opportunities to rest while monitoring his availability.
With St. Louis hovering around the .500 mark and still within reach of the National League postseason picture, getting Walker healthy and productive for the final stretch could be extremely important.
