REPORT: Hartford Wolf Pack Weekly: Brody Lamb riding strong six-game point streak

After recording a solid 30-point season (14 goals, 16 assists) in his senior year at the University of Minnesota, Brody Lamb has quickly made an impact in the professional ranks with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The 22-year-old forward enters the week on a six-game point streak, tallying six points (two goals, four assists) in his first seven games since joining Hartford on an amateur tryout deal signed March 14. Just days before that, he inked an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers, which will officially begin next season.

A fourth-round pick (104th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft, Lamb has already matched the team’s longest point streak this season, equaling Trey Fix-Wolansky’s six-game run earlier in the year.

His strong play has earned him increased responsibility. Lamb was recently promoted to Hartford’s top line alongside Brendan Brisson and Justin Dowling, and he has also been featured on the first power-play unit with key contributors like Fix-Wolansky and Scott Morrow.

Lamb contributed to both of Hartford’s goals over the weekend. On Saturday, he picked up his first power-play assist by carrying the puck into the offensive zone and setting up Bryce McConnell-Barker for a goal. The following day, he added another assist after initiating a play that led to a long-range goal by Brandon Scanlin.

Although his sample size is still small, Lamb has emerged as a promising addition for Hartford and potentially a future contributor for the Rangers. He currently leads the team in points-per-game (0.86) and is one of only a few active players with a positive plus-minus rating.

Team Notes: Playoff hopes fading

The Wolf Pack are struggling at a critical point in the season, going winless in their last four games (0-2-1-1). With just eight games remaining, their chances of reaching the Calder Cup Playoffs are slipping away.

They were swept in a two-game set by the Charlotte Checkers, losing both contests in tight fashion—one in overtime and the other in a shootout. Despite earning two points, Hartford remains six points outside a playoff spot. Currently sitting eighth with a 24-32-5-3 record (56 points), they face upcoming games against Bridgeport Islanders and Hershey Bears.

Brett Berard injury setback

Forward Brett Berard may miss the remainder of the regular season due to an upper-body injury. Initially labeled day-to-day in mid-March, he has now been sidelined for over two weeks and has missed seven straight games.

The injury is a significant blow, as Berard has been a consistent top-six forward for Hartford. He has posted 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 41 games this season, just shy of last year’s total. His absence is particularly impactful with players like Adam Sýkora and athlete currently up with the Rangers.

Dowling returns to lineup

Veteran center Justin Dowling made his return Friday after missing 11 games with an upper-body injury. He immediately slotted back into a top-line role and didn’t miss a beat, registering multiple shots across the weekend and contributing on the power play.

Tied for third on the team in scoring with 29 points, Dowling brings stability, faceoff strength, and leadership to a team in need of consistency.

Community efforts continue

Off the ice, the Wolf Pack remain active in the Hartford community. Over the weekend, they hosted “Sensory Inclusivity Night” at PeoplesBank Arena, creating a more accessible environment with reduced noise and sensory-friendly spaces. They also partnered with the Miracle League of Connecticut and organized a book drive for local schools.

Sunday’s game featured “Connecticut Children’s Night” in collaboration with Connecticut Children’s Hospital. The event included special warmup jerseys designed by young patients, with proceeds supporting the hospital’s foundation.

On the ice, both weekend games were tightly contested and low-scoring. Charlotte’s Brian Pinho played a key role, scoring multiple crucial goals across both matchups to secure victories for the Checkers.
