MAJOR BREAKING NEWS: Joe Jackson Set for a Breakout Year at K-State with Collin Klein

Kansas State running back Joe Jackson didn’t hesitate when deciding whether to return for another college football season. Shortly after the Wildcats’ 2025 season ended, he was already certain he would come back.

Jackson explained that his familiarity with the program and the people around it made the choice simple. He also felt the team still had unfinished goals to accomplish, which strengthened his decision—especially after learning that coach Collin Klein would be returning.

The opportunity to play under Klein again was a major factor. Even though Jackson had a strong sophomore campaign under former coach Chris Klieman, he was eager to reunite with Klein, who had previously coached him as offensive coordinator during his freshman year.

Jackson recorded 911 rushing yards and eight touchdowns last season, with standout performances in the final two games. He set a school record with 293 yards and three touchdowns against Utah, then followed up with 142 yards and three more scores versus Colorado.

While some players might have considered transferring after a coaching change, Jackson chose to stay. He credited Klein, who recruited him and much of the 2023 offensive class, as a key reason for his commitment to Kansas State.

Looking ahead, Jackson is optimistic about thriving in Klein’s offensive system, which is designed to maximize the strengths of running backs. Klein believes the scheme will create opportunities both in the running game and in open space against defenders.

Jackson hopes to build on his late-season momentum. Although his sophomore year started slowly, he played an important role in helping the Wildcats win four of their last six games and finish 6–6.

He also recognizes areas where he can improve, such as patience, decision-making, trusting teammates, and better understanding the offensive scheme. In addition, Jackson is working on becoming more vocal as a leader, despite naturally being introverted.

Now entering his fourth season with Kansas State, he is focused on doing whatever it takes to help the team finish strong.
