Meyer, the former third overall pick in the 2020 draft, worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight. Though he hit two batters to open the game, he quickly settled in and retired 10 consecutive hitters. Calvin Faucher recorded the final outs of the sixth inning and picked up the win, even after a wild pitch allowed the Cardinals to draw level.

The Cardinals struck first in the fourth inning when Jordan Walker extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single and later scored on Masyn Winn’s sacrifice fly. Miami responded in the bottom half, with Kyle Stowers scoring on Xavier Edwards’ ground-rule double to tie the game.

Ramírez then gave the Marlins the lead with a leadoff homer in the fifth. After St. Louis tied things again in the sixth, Miami answered with a rally highlighted by Otto Lopez’s run-scoring double and Liam Hicks’ RBI single, pushing the lead to 4–2. Lopez later scored again in the eighth to add insurance.

Pete Fairbanks closed out the game, allowing a run in the ninth but securing his fourth save in five chances.

Michael McGreevy took the loss for St. Louis, surrendering four runs over 5 2/3 innings. Meanwhile, rookie JJ Wetherholt continued to endure a tough stretch, getting hit by a pitch for a Cardinals-record fifth straight game.
