JUST IN: What’s the Newest Update on Kentucky Basketball’s Transfer Portal Recruiting Efforts?

As of late April 2026, Kentucky men’s basketball is still actively searching for players in the transfer portal as the next recruiting period approaches. Head coach Mark Pope currently has 10 players projected for the 2026–27 roster after adding Senegalese forward Ousmane N’Diaye, leaving up to five spots still open.

The Wildcats are exploring multiple recruiting paths including the NCAA transfer portal, high school prospects, and international talent but haven’t secured a new portal commitment in recent days. So far, their transfer additions came earlier in the month with guards Zoom Diallo (April 15) and Alex Wilkins (April 18).

This week, Kentucky hosted several transfer prospects on campus. Justin McBride (James Madison forward) and Gabe Dynes (USC center) visited on Wednesday, while Washington State guard Jerone Morton began his visit Friday. McBride had a strong season averaging over 15 points per game, while Dynes is known for his shot-blocking ability. Morton, a Kentucky native, previously starred in high school and had a solid season at Washington State.

Meanwhile, some targets are already coming off the board. Dayton guard De’Shayne Montgomery, who Kentucky had contacted, committed to Louisville. The Wildcats have also shown interest in St. John’s guard Joson Sanon, a former five-star recruit.

Now that the transfer portal has closed for new entrants, most of the top talent has already chosen new schools. Only 11 of the top 100 ranked transfer players remain uncommitted, including several elite prospects who are also testing the NBA Draft process. Kentucky has been linked to a few of these high-level players, such as Milan Momcilovic, Allen Graves, and Tounde Yessoufou.

With roster spots still available and limited top-tier options remaining, Kentucky continues working to finalize its lineup for next season.
