The New York Mets have continued to explore nearby talent options to strengthen their organizational depth, particularly on the offensive side. In a recent move aimed at adding versatility and upside to their system, the club has signed 23-year-old infielder Nick Roselli, who most recently played for the Long Island Ducks.
The transaction was confirmed by Ducks president Michael Pfaff, who announced that Roselli’s contract had been purchased by the Mets. This marks the fourth time in 2026 that a player from the Ducks has earned an opportunity with a Major League organization, underscoring the Atlantic League club’s growing reputation as a source of talent for affiliated baseball.
The Long Island Ducks compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, widely considered one of the strongest independent leagues in the sport. Roselli’s return to the Mets system is not entirely new territory for him—he has previously been part of the organization, making him a familiar figure within their development pipeline. In fact, he also spent time with the Mets during Spring Training, so his re-entry into the system comes after only a brief departure.
Roselli was originally selected in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of the State University of New York at Binghamton. Since then, he has worked his way through the Mets’ minor league affiliates, including stints at Single-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn last season, where he posted modest offensive numbers (.233 and .136 respectively). While those results reflect ongoing development challenges, the Mets have seen enough potential to give him another opportunity.
Now 23 years old, Roselli offers defensive flexibility, with the ability to handle both infield and outfield positions. That versatility, combined with his prior familiarity with the organization, likely contributed to the Mets’ decision to bring him back into the fold.
The move represents a fresh chance for Roselli to reset his trajectory. To establish himself more firmly within the system and potentially climb the minor league ladder he will need to show improved consistency at the plate and capitalize on this second opportunity within the Mets’ player development structure, officially represented by the New York Mets.
More MLB roster and prospect movement is expected as teams continue to adjust depth charts throughout the season.
