Auburn head coach Alex Golesh is continuing to make a strong early impression on the recruiting trail, as the Tigers extended their 2027 class with two more key commitments on Tuesday. The surge further highlights Auburn’s growing momentum under Golesh, who has quickly built a reputation for aggressive recruiting battles and consistent wins over SEC rivals.
The latest additions came in the form of 3-star cornerback Aidyn Wiggins and 4-star linebacker Isaac McNeil, both of whom chose Auburn after competing offers from several major programs. Their decisions add to what has become a rapidly expanding recruiting haul for the Tigers over the past few weeks, signaling that Auburn’s recruiting push is gaining real traction.
Wiggins, a standout defensive back from Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina, selected Auburn over notable programs including LSU, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech. He credited the atmosphere in Auburn and the coaching staff’s approach as major factors in his decision. According to Wiggins, the visit left a strong impression, particularly the way Golesh and defensive backs coach DeMarcus Van Dyke connected with both him and his family. He praised the staff’s transparency, energy, and track record of developing NFL-caliber defensive backs, saying the program made him feel like a priority from the start.
McNeil’s commitment added even more drama to the day, as the Vigor High School (Mobile, Alabama) linebacker briefly made headlines by teasing Alabama fans with a Crimson Tide hat before ultimately pledging to Auburn. His decision was influenced heavily by defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, who played a key role throughout his recruitment. McNeil highlighted Auburn’s defensive versatility, coaching intensity, and NFL development pipeline as key reasons for his choice, noting that the staff believes he can contribute early and play multiple roles within the system.
With these two additions, Auburn’s 2027 recruiting class continues to climb, now reaching 14 total commitments and moving into the national top 20 rankings according to 247Sports. The steady rise reflects a clear recruiting surge under Golesh, as the Tigers continue to outmaneuver rival programs and build a foundation aimed at long-term competitiveness in the SEC.
