BREAKING NEWS: Braves Pitcher Joins NL Central Team After Brief Stint

Davis Daniel, a 28-year-old Atlanta native, has signed with the Cincinnati Reds after spending just three games with his hometown Braves in 2025, according to Tread Athletics reports on social media.

Daniel’s big league track record remains modest – he posted a 5.40 ERA across three appearances (including two starts) with Atlanta last season. Over three years split between the Angels and Braves, he’s compiled a 2-6 record with a 5.13 ERA in 12 total games.

Most of Daniel’s 2025 season unfolded in Triple-A with Gwinnett, where he struggled to a 6-12 record and 5.60 ERA over 25 games. However, recent workout footage from Tread showed his fastball reaching 94 mph – a notable uptick from the 89.8 mph average he posted during last year’s limited MLB time. His arsenal also features a splitter, slider, and sweeper that he uses as frequently as his four-seam fastball.

Daniel burst onto the scene with an impressive MLB debut for the Angels in 2024, throwing eight scoreless innings against Detroit while allowing just four hits. But he managed only two more starts before returning to the minors, and the Angels traded him to Atlanta that December for minor leaguer Mitch Farris.

In Cincinnati, Daniel faces an uphill battle for rotation work. The Reds’ starting staff posted a strong 3.85 ERA last season despite pitching in a hitter-friendly park, and they return five quality starters under 30: Hunter Greene, Andrew Abbott, Brady Singer, Nick Lodolo, and Chase Burns. With only three other starters on the 40-man roster, Daniel could see opportunities if injuries arise.
