According to On3 analyst Talia Goodman’s preseason top-25 release, Kentucky checks in at No. 9 nationally, reflecting both the program’s roster stability and its aggressive offseason additions. The ranking places the Wildcats among the elite teams in women’s college basketball and highlights the rising trajectory of the program under Brooks.

A key reason for Kentucky’s preseason optimism is its strong blend of returning talent and incoming reinforcements. The Wildcats bring back important production from standout contributors Clara Strack and Asia Boone, both of whom are expected to play central roles once again this season.

In addition to their returning core, Kentucky has significantly strengthened its roster through recruiting and the transfer portal. The program added promising freshmen such as Maddyn Greenway, Savvy Swords, and Emily McDonald, all of whom bring athleticism and depth to the rotation. The Wildcats also landed experienced transfers including Diana Collins from Alabama, Me’Arah O’Neal from Florida, and international addition Ajsa Sivka, giving the roster a more balanced and versatile look heading into the new season.

With this mix of experience, youth, and high-upside talent, expectations are rising that Kentucky could be poised for one of its strongest campaigns under Brooks. The program has shown steady progress in recent seasons, and this year’s roster is viewed as one of the most complete during his tenure.

As preseason rankings begin to shape the national conversation, Kentucky’s top-10 placement reflects growing belief that the Wildcats are not just improving—but are ready to compete at a higher level with hopes of making a deep postseason run. The final challenge will be how quickly the new pieces gel once the season tips off.
