The Kentucky Wildcats have expanded their recruiting board with a major long-term gamble, extending an offer to fast-rising international big man Cherif Millogo, a towering 7-foot-3 center from Burkina Faso whose size and upside have quickly made him one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2027 class.
Millogo’s emergence on the recruiting radar has been rapid. After initially drawing some interest from Kentucky last summer, his stock has surged following strong performances on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, where scouts were able to evaluate his rare combination of height, length, and developing skill set. With a massive 7-foot-9 wingspan and elite natural frame, he represents the type of high-ceiling project that elite programs often prioritize early in the cycle.
The Wildcats’ renewed push reflects head coach Mark Pope’s aggressive recruiting approach, as Kentucky continues to cast a wide net across multiple classes. Millogo becomes the 19th prospect in his class to receive an offer from the program, joining a competitive group that includes major national programs such as Alabama, Arizona, BYU, and USC.
For Millogo, the moment carried personal significance as well. He publicly acknowledged the offer with gratitude, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to be recruited by one of college basketball’s most storied programs. His journey, however, is still in its early stages and marked more by potential than polish.
Originally from Burkina Faso, Millogo is a relatively new face in organized basketball, having only begun playing the sport a few years ago. Much of his development has been self-driven, including studying film of NBA superstar Kevin Durant to refine his shooting mechanics and overall understanding of the game. That unconventional learning path highlights both his rawness and his determination to improve quickly.
After relocating to the United States three years ago, Millogo has continued to develop under strong mentorship. His guardian, former UCLA standout and NBA player Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, has played a key role in guiding his transition into American basketball culture and helping him navigate the recruiting landscape.
Despite his limited experience, Millogo has already climbed into the upper tier of national prospect rankings. Rivals currently lists him as high as No. 21 overall in the 2027 class and the second-ranked center, underscoring just how high his ceiling could be if his development continues on its current trajectory.
For Kentucky, the offer represents both vision and patience investing early in a physically gifted prospect who may take time to develop but could ultimately become a dominant interior presence at the college level.
