The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas State Wildcats are set to renew their longtime basketball rivalry this fall when they meet in a preseason exhibition game at the BigIron Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. The exhibition, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26, will serve as one of Nebraska’s three tune-up games before the start of the 2026-27 college basketball season.
The matchup marks a significant event for both programs while also representing another major milestone for Grand Island, which continues to establish itself as one of Nebraska’s premier destinations for high-profile sporting events.
Nebraska officials announced the exhibition as part of the Huskers’ preseason schedule, giving fans in central Nebraska a rare opportunity to watch two longtime regional rivals square off without having to travel to Lincoln or Manhattan.
According to BigIron Events Center Executive Director Kyler Tarwater, excitement surrounding the game is already building, with organizers anticipating a packed venue when the teams take the floor.
Tarwater expressed confidence that the event will draw tremendous fan interest, predicting that the arena could be filled to standing-room-only capacity.
