The Texas Rangers have recognized four of their top minor-league performers for outstanding August campaigns, with Dylan Dreiling and Moises Morales leading the organization’s monthly awards. Dreiling was named Minor League Player of the Month, while Morales earned Starting Pitcher of the Month honors. Yolfran Castillo was selected as Defender of the Month, and Kai Wynyard took home the Reliever of the Month award.
Dreiling was the biggest offensive standout. The 23-year-old outfielder was nearly unstoppable for Double-A Frisco, recording at least one hit in all 20 games he played during August. He finished the month batting .429/.484/.667, collecting 36 hits, four home runs, eight doubles and 17 RBIs in 84 at-bats. His .429 average ranked among the Texas League’s best, while his 56 total bases led all Rangers minor leaguers during the month.
The former second-round selection out of Tennessee has also turned his entire 2026 season into a major statement. Dreiling entered September hitting .314 with 22 home runs, 83 RBIs and a .911 OPS across 111 games. His production has strengthened his case to move up the Rangers’ organizational ladder, with a potential Triple-A opportunity becoming an increasingly realistic next step.
Morales provided an equally impressive turnaround on the mound. The 22-year-old right-hander went 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA, striking out 20 while issuing only four walks over 25 innings in August. His ERA was the best single-month mark among Rangers minor leaguers this season for pitchers with at least 20 innings. He also posted a 0.92 WHIP, highlighting how difficult he was for opposing hitters to reach.
Morales’ recent surge is particularly notable because his season did not begin smoothly. After struggling early, he has dramatically improved his command and run prevention. For the season, he is now 10-2 with a 3.22 ERA, 100 strikeouts and a 1.02 WHIP over 100.2 innings, giving the Rangers another young pitching prospect to monitor closely.
Castillo also continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the organization’s best defensive prospects. The 19-year-old shortstop converted all 82 of his defensive chances in August, recording 51 assists and participating in 11 double plays. He has also contributed offensively, batting around .286 in the Carolina League while leading the circuit with 55 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Wynyard was rewarded after a dominant month out of the bullpen. The 24-year-old Australian right-hander appeared in six games for High-A Hub City and did not surrender a run, striking out 13 over 10.2 scoreless innings. His strong finish earned him a promotion to Double-A Frisco on September 5 and capped a remarkable turnaround after a difficult beginning to the season.
The four awards provide another encouraging sign for the Rangers’ player-development system. With Dreiling emerging as a potential future outfield option, Morales developing into a promising pitching prospect and Castillo and Wynyard continuing to progress, the organization has several young players pushing for bigger opportunities as the 2026 season moves toward its conclusion.
