The Philadelphia Phillies have endured a turbulent start to the 2026 season, riding an emotional roller coaster that has already included a managerial firing, a lengthy losing streak, and growing speculation about major roster changes. Although the club has shown signs of improvement in recent games, early-season struggles exposed serious concerns that could force the front office to rethink the roster moving forward.
At one point, Philadelphia owned the worst run differential in baseball and suffered through an eight-game losing streak that tied them with the New York Mets for the worst record in the National League. The disappointing stretch intensified pressure on the organization and fueled trade rumors surrounding several key players, especially longtime third baseman Alec Bohm.
Bohm has frequently appeared in trade speculation over the last few seasons, but this year the possibility of a separation feels more realistic than ever. The former All-Star has struggled to consistently produce at the plate, and many around the league believe a fresh start may benefit both the player and the Phillies. With Philadelphia attempting to reset its direction while remaining competitive, Bohm could become one of the franchise’s most valuable trade chips ahead of the deadline.
One recently proposed deal would send Bohm to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for young pitcher Robert Gasser and highly regarded prospect Josh Adamczewski. Milwaukee’s front office could view Bohm as a low-risk addition capable of revitalizing their offense. With inconsistent production at third base and uncertainty surrounding parts of the lineup, Bohm may receive an immediate opportunity to lock down a regular role if he can rediscover the offensive form that once made him an All-Star-caliber player.
For the Phillies, the proposed trade would offer a chance to add young talent and build organizational depth for the future. Gasser could strengthen the pitching staff, while Adamczewski would provide another promising developmental piece for the farm system. Considering Bohm’s inconsistency and the mounting pressure surrounding the current roster, a trade could ultimately benefit both organizations.
