Led Zeppelin named the greatest rock band in history by Forbes on February 14, 2025 Forbes magazine released a ranking of the 30 greatest rock bands of all time, considering groups that marked an era in the main subgenres of the style, such as classic rock, blues-rock, hard rock, heavy metal, alternative rock and punk. At the top of the selection, Forbes elected Led Zeppelin as the greatest rock band of all time. The magazine highlighted the incomparable harmony between members John Bonham, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. “No other four-piece band has come close to matching this unique union”, the publication justified. In addition, the magazine highlighted the influence of the British band in the history of rock. “Throughout their discography, Led Zeppelin managed to hone a sound and cultivate an audience that has since shaped all of rock as it is today”, noted Forbes.

“A father sang for the son he lost – and Robert Plant did something no one saw coming…” That night in Austin, Robert Plant was mid-performance when he noticed a middle-aged man holding a sign: “My son died before he could hear Led Zeppelin live.” Plant paused. Silent for a moment. Then he walked to the edge of the stage and asked, “Would you like to sing with me… for your son?” The crowd held its breath. The man, trembling, stepped up. “Stairway to Heaven” began — not flawless, but soaked in emotion. Plant sang each line beside him, the father joining in through tears. At the climax, Robert stepped back, letting the father’s voice echo across the stage. The audience wept.
