As the Texas Rangers prepare to resume the 2026 Major League Baseball season with a road series against the Atlanta Braves following the All-Star break, injuries remain one of the club’s biggest concerns in its pursuit of an American League postseason berth.

Manager Skip Schumaker is expected to provide additional medical updates before Friday’s opener, but several key players including ace Jacob deGrom, Corey Seager and multiple members of the pitching staff—continue to work their way back from injuries that have impacted Texas throughout the first half.
With the Rangers entering one of the most important stretches of the season, here’s the latest status of every injured player on the roster.
Jacob deGrom Avoids Major Setback
Although not currently on the injured list, Jacob deGrom remains one of the biggest storylines entering the second half.
The Rangers scratched their ace from his final scheduled start before the All-Star break because of a mild left glute strain suffered on July 10.
The organization remains optimistic that the injury is minor enough to avoid an injured-list stint. If deGrom progresses as expected, he could return as early as Sunday when Texas has an opening in its rotation.
Given deGrom’s importance to the Rangers’ playoff hopes, the club is expected to proceed cautiously rather than risk aggravating the injury.
10-Day Injured List
Corey Seager (Shortstop)
Star shortstop Corey Seager continues to battle recurring back problems that have become one of the Rangers’ biggest frustrations this season.
The former World Series MVP landed on the injured list on July 1, marking his third IL stint of 2026 and his second because of back discomfort.
Seager recently acknowledged that neither he nor the medical staff has been able to identify the exact cause of the recurring issue, making the injury especially frustrating.
The Rangers did not expect him to return immediately following the All-Star break, although they remain hopeful he can rejoin the lineup later this month.
Danny Jansen (Catcher)
Veteran catcher Danny Jansen has been sidelined since June 10 with a right forearm strain affecting his throwing arm.
Encouragingly, Jansen began a structured throwing program before the break, signaling progress in his recovery.
However, the Rangers have not yet established a timetable for beginning a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.
Fortunately for Texas, veteran catcher Elias Díaz has performed exceptionally well in Jansen’s absence, allowing the organization to prioritize a full recovery rather than rushing him back into action.
Cody Freeman (Utility Player)
Utility infielder Cody Freeman continues recovering from surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.
Placed on the injured list on June 25, Freeman underwent surgery shortly afterward and has already resumed light running as part of his rehabilitation.
The Rangers believe he could begin baseball-related activities in the near future, although no official return date has been announced.
15-Day Injured List
Jack Leiter (Starting Pitcher)
Highly regarded right-hander Jack Leiter continues his recovery after ankle surgery.
The Rangers placed Leiter on the injured list on June 21 after discovering an extra bone known as the os trigonum that had been causing persistent pain.
The procedure successfully removed the bone, and both Leiter and the organization remain optimistic he can return sometime in August.
If healthy, Leiter could provide valuable depth to the starting rotation during the playoff race.
Chris Martin (Relief Pitcher)
Veteran reliever Chris Martin remains sidelined with a recurring right shoulder impingement.
It marks his third injured-list stint this season with the same issue, raising additional concerns about his long-term availability.

Martin has struggled to meet expectations after signing with Texas during the offseason, and speculation has emerged that the Rangers could eventually move on from the veteran if his health and performance fail to improve.
At the earliest, he will not be eligible to return until late July.
Jakob Junis (Relief Pitcher)
One of the Rangers’ most dependable setup relievers appears closest to returning.
Jakob Junis was placed on the injured list on July 4 with a left hip impingement but was expected to require only the minimum 15-day absence.
Texas believes Junis could be activated immediately as the second half begins if he completes his recovery without setbacks.
His return would significantly strengthen the bullpen in front of closer Jacob Latz.
Jalen Beeks (Relief Pitcher)
The outlook for left-hander Jalen Beeks is considerably less encouraging.
Initially sidelined with lower back spasms, Beeks later developed an elbow injury that required season-ending surgery.
His 2026 campaign is officially over, and he is expected to remain on the injured list until sometime during the 2027 season.
The Rangers could soon transfer him to the 60-day injured list to create additional roster flexibility.
60-Day Injured List
Jordan Montgomery (Starting Pitcher)
One of the organization’s most anticipated returns remains veteran left-hander Jordan Montgomery.
The hero of the Rangers’ 2023 World Series championship continues progressing through his recovery from Tommy John surgery.
Montgomery has already completed four minor-league rehabilitation starts while steadily increasing his workload.
If his recovery continues without complications, Texas expects him to return to the major-league rotation sometime in August.
Cody Bradford (Starting Pitcher)
Left-hander Cody Bradford is also making encouraging progress after recovering from elbow surgery.
Although he experienced an earlier setback this season, Bradford has resumed pitching in rehabilitation games and continues rebuilding his endurance.
The Rangers are targeting a late-August return, when he could contribute either as a starter or multi-inning reliever.
Michael Helman (Outfielder)
Outfielder Michael Helman remains unavailable after suffering a fractured right hand on June 14.
Because of the severity of the injury, he cannot return before late August.
Once healthy, the Rangers will determine whether Helman rejoins the major-league roster or continues playing at Triple-A depending on the team’s roster needs and playoff position.
Robert Garcia (Relief Pitcher)
Left-handed reliever Robert Garcia has remained sidelined since April with inflammation in his left rotator cuff.
The Rangers have released very few updates regarding his progress, and there is growing belief that he may not return before the end of the season.
Although eligible to be activated later this year if healthy, his timeline remains uncertain.
Carter Baumler (Pitcher)
Rule 5 Draft selection Carter Baumler has been unavailable since early April because of a right intercostal strain.
Texas has provided little information regarding his rehabilitation in recent weeks, making it increasingly unlikely he will pitch again during the 2026 season.
Like Garcia, he remains eligible to return if his recovery accelerates unexpectedly.
Health Could Determine Rangers’ Second-Half Success
As Texas begins the second half of the season, the club’s playoff hopes may depend as much on recovering key contributors as making additions before the trade deadline.
The potential returns of Jacob deGrom, Jack Leiter, Jordan Montgomery, Jakob Junis and Corey Seager could provide major boosts to both the pitching staff and lineup during the stretch run.
If the Rangers can gradually regain their health while remaining competitive in the American League standings, they could enter the final months of the season with one of their deepest rosters of the year.
