The Texas Rangers responded emphatically after Monday’s loss, overwhelming the Chicago White Sox with a relentless offensive display and dominant pitching performance in a 10-0 victory on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field.
After falling 10-3 in the series opener, Texas wasted no time flipping the script, pounding out 18 hits while capitalizing on nearly every scoring opportunity. The Rangers finished an outstanding 7-for-10 with runners in scoring position, turning the contest into a one-sided affair from the opening inning.
Brandon Nimmo ignited the offensive explosion with a two-run home run in the first inning, immediately putting Texas in front for good. The veteran outfielder enjoyed one of his best games of the season, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate while setting the tone for the Rangers’ relentless attack.
The offense never slowed down. Alejandro Osuna delivered another standout performance with three hits and three RBIs, while Wyatt Langford continued his hot stretch by collecting two hits, including a towering two-run homer that highlighted a decisive four-run fifth inning. Ezequiel Duran, Jake Burger, and Nicky Lopez also chipped in key hits as virtually every member of the Rangers’ lineup contributed.
Rocker Delivers His Best Start in Weeks
While the offense stole headlines, Kumar Rocker was equally dominant on the mound.
The right-hander snapped a difficult stretch by tossing six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, striking out six, and walking only two. He threw 50 of his 75 pitches for strikes, consistently overpowering White Sox hitters and earning his first victory since May 19.
Rocker entered the game after struggling through his first two starts in July, posting a 9.00 ERA, but looked completely rejuvenated against Chicago. He retired eight consecutive batters before surrendering his lone hit and followed that by sitting down seven more in a row, keeping the White Sox offense completely off balance.
Only Munetaka Murakami’s leadoff single in the fourth inning prevented Rocker from carrying a no-hit bid deeper into the game.
Veteran left-hander Marco Gonzales closed out the contest by pitching the final three scoreless innings, earning the first save of his major league career while preserving the Rangers’ three-hit shutout.
White Sox Rookie Overwhelmed
Chicago rookie Noah Schultz endured one of the toughest outings of his young career.
The left-hander surrendered five runs on a career-high 11 hits over 3⅔ innings, falling to 3-7 on the season. Although he walked no batters and struck out two, the Rangers consistently squared up his pitches from the opening inning.
After Nimmo’s early blast gave Texas a quick advantage, the Rangers steadily added to their lead before putting the game completely out of reach with their explosive fifth inning.
The White Sox managed only three hits all night, with Luisangel Acuña and Miguel Vargas recording the club’s only other hits besides Murakami.
Rangers Suffer Minor Injury Scare
Despite the convincing victory, the Rangers did receive one concerning update when third baseman Josh Jung exited the game in the fifth inning because of left calf tightness. His status will likely be monitored closely ahead of the remainder of the series.
The dominant performance showcased everything Texas hoped to see a relentless offense, a resurgent Rocker, and lockdown bullpen work as the Rangers bounced back in emphatic fashion to even the series.
